Faye Rose “Purnell” Bungy, 68 of Wilmington, DE, died April 12, 2024, in Easton, MD. She was born in Easton, March 30, 1956, to the late Epiphany Roland Wilkins and the late Betty Ann Virginia Purnell-Harris.
Faye was raised in Talbot County where she graduated high school. While here, she was a member of Scotts United Methodist Church. Faye was always a hard worker. She worked for Sears and Roebucks, and she also drove a tractor trailer. Later in life, she moved to Wilmington, Delaware and lived with Georgia Rogers and her four children. She then moved to Florida where she drove a truck around the country. She later returned to Wilmington where she settled and raised her family. After settling in Wilmington, she joined Ebernezer Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Gilbert S Hamms, Sr. Faye was a diligent worker in the church. She was a member of the Usher Board, and the Culinary and Transportation Committee. Faye was very instrumental with the food and clothes give-away.
Faye had a personality which would attract anyone. Her smile was contagious. She was a friend to anyone in need, a friend indeed. Faye was an avid Eagles fan. She never missed watching their football games. Faye spent a lot of time bowling and shopping before her health began to fail.
Faye leaves to cherish her fond memories a son, Shink "Maurice Purnell" of Wilmington; 3 grandchildren: Mateo, Faye, and Storm Purnell all of Wilmington; a sister, June Purnell of Easton; 3 brothers: Nathaniel Harris (Siretta) of Easton, Epiphany Wilkins, Jr. of Chestertown, and La Ron Spencer (Stacy) of Jonesboro, Georgia; 3 aunts: Margaret Blackwell of Easton, Childlene Brooks and Bessie Virginia Jackson both of Wittman; 9 nieces: Siani, Wynnter, Kalynn, Nadine, Tammie, Bette Ann, Debra, Dyamond, and Jessica; 6 nephews: La Ron, Jr, Edrise, Chauncy, Stanley, Josh, Ta'Mond; a very close friend, Valerie Simpson of Wilmington, and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
